Easy Autumn Crafts for Kids: Endless Possibilities with Toilet Paper Rolls: There’s something about autumn that makes crafting feel even cozier – the sound of scissors snipping, a warm drink on the table, and little hands covered in paint. ? When the days get shorter and the leaves start to fall, I love to bring out one of my favorite creative staples: toilet paper rolls.

They’re simple, recyclable, and full of potential. Just a few cuts, a bit of glue, and suddenly you’ve got a whole forest of autumn creatures ready to come to life.

Here are a few of our favorite easy autumn crafts using toilet paper rolls and cardboard – perfect for a creative afternoon with kids!

Toilet Paper Roll Grapes

Cut a few toilet paper rolls into thin rings, then glue them together into small clusters on paper – they instantly look like bunches of grapes! Paint them purple or deep burgundy, and add a few green paper leaves or watercolor vines for that vineyard look.

Autumn Branches

Cut the rolls into oval “leaf” shapes, glue them onto a large sheet of paper, and draw delicate branches connecting them. Paint the leaves in warm autumn tones – oranges, browns, and golds – for a beautiful fall art piece that’s easy enough for little hands but still pretty enough to display.

Toilet Paper Roll Hedgehog

Cut your roll into narrow slices and glue the pieces onto a sheet of paper in a half-circle pattern. Add a drawn or painted hedgehog face at the front – eyes, a nose, and a little smile. You can even use brown paint or natural textures like leaf pieces to give it a rustic feel.

Squirrel with a Pinecone Tail

For this one, keep the toilet paper roll whole! Paint it brown, draw or glue on a cute squirrel face, and attach a pinecone as the tail. It’s such a simple idea, but it instantly turns a bit of cardboard into a cozy woodland friend. Kids will love hunting for pinecones on a walk before crafting!

Cardboard Animals with Feathers and Leaves

Don’t stop at toilet rolls – try cardboard packaging too! Cut little animal silhouettes or simple shapes, then poke or glue natural treasures into them: dried leaves, feathers, bits of moss or paper scraps. Every piece becomes a tiny autumn character- whimsical, eco-friendly, and full of personality.

Creativity Starts with Cardboard

I love projects like these because they remind us that creativity doesn’t require fancy supplies. Just cardboard, scissors, paint, and imagination – and suddenly your kitchen table becomes an autumn wonderland. These crafts are simple, sustainable, and endlessly adaptable.
