Holland getaway: and a small gallery of our trip to Holland with our one year old girl.

Are you still waiting for some spring weather?

Here is cold and rainy, so you can imagine that last month we haven’t the greatest weather in our Dutch scape… Besides, because of the cold weather on this long winter the tulips were a little late this year, but we found some of them and we are grateful for that.

Anyway, the journey was dreamy and the date with the tulips totally worth it.

We had only 4 days on the country and we were located at Zandvoort:

  • Day one: Amsterdam.

Well, we had already visited the capital few years ago but it is always a pleasure to rediscover a city with our girl now!

The magnificent Amsterdam Centraal Train Station, the Cathedral, Museum Van Gogh, Dam Square,Anna Frank’s house, red light district… but my favorites this time are the Bloemenmarkt (market flower) and the Sint Antoniesbreestraat, the main comercial street with all the charming vintage stores.

  • Day 2: visit to the keukenhof botanical gardens.

This is one of the world’s largest flower gardens with 37 hectares and 7 million flowers. Also, you will found here a big sample of Dutch traditions of gastronomy and folklore . From Zandvoort, take the bus 80 and enjoy on the way the peaceful view of the national park of De Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen with his dunes and lovely deers. Then take the 854 to keukenhof.

  • Day 3: Haarlem

Visit Haarlem on Saturday and enjoy the weekly market, I loved the ambiance there, with the cathedral watching at you that’s just magical. (The Grote Kerk or St.-Bavokerk on the central market square). Then on our way to the train station we meet the Adriaan windmill. We finished the visit a little earlier than planned because the rain, but that was a lovely day anyway.

  • Day 4: Zandvoort.

“The Pearl by the sea”. A perfect must see,the beach offered us some revitalizing sunshine, and we enjoyed the sunset while savouring a great meal on the restaurant Aan Zee.

And that is the end of this “long weekend”, I hope it will be a third time in the country of tulips, moulins and wooden socks.

Hope you liked the Holland getaway through my photos!
