Free printables feelings cards! Some time ago I shared on my instagram stories emotions cards that I made from recycled cardboards, and a lot of people loved it AND some asked for printables,so I made these ones that you can print and cut to play with your kids and learn about feelings and emotions. I wanted to create different characters but for now you can find just two of them, and you can find them on this post, just scroll down!

I made 6 emotions: angry, happy, surprised, sad, scared and confused. These are perfect for young children . I drew two “portraits” of my girls recycling cardboards, then I drew all the eyes and mouth expressions. You can glue an envelope behind the “face part” to keep all the parts together. I also added velcros but it’s optional! You can use cardboards like I did,or laminate all the parts it might be a great option too.

Why do you need this?

When kids learn to manage their emotions in childhood it leads to positive attitudes and behaviours later in life. That kind of play will help them identify different moods and  it allows your child to develop an emotional vocabulary so they can talk about their feelings.

Some of the ways you can help your child learn about and express their feelings:

-Tune into cues: observing their behavior, figuring out what they feel

-Try to understand the meaning behind the feeling: behind every behavior there is a feeling, once you know which one,you can help your kid to find other ways to express that feeling.

-Name the feeling.Naming feelings is the first step in helping kids learn to identify them

– Identifiy feelings in books or cartoons,in order to develop an emotional vocabulary so they can talk about their feelings.

-Be a model, embrace all the feelings, talk about them , express your emotions, kids learn from us.

-always listen to your child’s feelings. When feelings are minimised or dismissed, they will often be expressed in unhealthy ways

Hope you find it useful! Sara xoxo
