Upcycled bag from table mats: Spring is in the air and the joyful season brings new kind of accessories for our outfits, but you don’t need to buy new stuff! There are lots of alternatives to fast fashion, you can buy second hand or create your own items.

Longer and sunnier days, colorful clothes, the songs of the birds… slowly we leave this hard winter behind us and the summer will bring us to the beach style.

I love it, the casual ways there, the rustic bohemian style, and all kind of handmade accessories. Rafia, crochet, guipure…

The trend piece of last summer was the round bag.

And for those who prefer the recycled ecofriendly style, I found a way to make it by myself.

DIY rafia tote bag with two place mats from dried water hyacinth.

What you need:

-A fragment of fabric.

-A zip (by the way you can recycle it from old clothes).

-Two place mats from dried water hyacinth.

-The handle of an old bag.

Customize it as you want: I sew a vintage crocheted napkin and I love the result!

You must sew a fabric band, put a zip on, and sew both place mats to the fabric band. Then add de handle and voilà, ready for the summer walks and evenings.

I am seriously obsessed about that bag! Love the vintage and boho style and it’s also perfect as a beach bag! Do you like it?

Hi! my name is Sara and I am a DIY lover!
This blog started as a journal where I wrote my favorite recipes, from cosmetics and food. Then I started to create and upcycle clothes and I finally needed crafts ideas and easy kids activities for our homeschool journey. We love handmade stuff and easy projects and I share them all here!
