World be day easy crafts: on 20 May each year bees are celebrated and for the occasion I wanted to share our favorites crafts and recipes that we have done these last years. You can also download a free printable about the honey bee cycle of life and a watercolor bee that I created painted a few time ago.

World Bee Day is important to celebrate because bees play a crucial role in maintaining the balance of our ecosystems and ensuring food security. It is vital for kids to learn about bees as they are the future stewards of our planet, and understanding the significance of bees can inspire them to protect these incredible creatures and contribute to preserving our environment.T

Today’s crafts ideas are easy and eco-friendly, a great way to start conversations with your kids:

  • 1. Energy bee balls ?

So easy and effective, the kids loved it! To create these delicious bees, you just need to add almond flakes and dark chocolate stripes, aren’t they cute?

  • 2. Fingerprints bees

A nice kid activity, they’ll just paint a few yellow fingerprints on a white paper, let it dry and then add the black stripes and wings with markers.

  • 3. Pasta hive

For that one you need the classic pasta macaroni and a cardboard that you’ll cut with an hexagon shape. Then your kids can glue the pasta into the cardboard. We made

  • 4. Homemade honey playdough

To start, gather the following ingredients: 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt, 2 tablespoons of cream of tartar, 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil, 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1 cup of water. In a saucepan, combine the flour, salt, and cream of tartar. In a separate bowl, mix the oil, honey, and water. Slowly pour the liquid mixture into the saucepan and stir continuously over low heat until the dough thickens and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Once the dough forms a ball, remove it from the heat and let it cool. Knead the dough on a clean surface until it becomes smooth and pliable. Now you have your homemade honey playdough ready for hours of creative play!

  • 5. Piñata honeycomb

That upcycled honeycomb was the piñata for my little 3rd birthday. You just need to paint a paper lantern with yellow paint and add a few bees (I made them from pasta). Put some small gifts inside ( hairbands, hair clips, erasers, stickers etc). We actually just pull the ribbons to make the gifts felt and kept the lamp because we really loved it!

6. Watercolors and other sketches

We had fun drawing the cycle of life and the anatomy of a honey bee.
